Colegio Bethesda

The Bridges Program of Children FED is partnering with Colegio Evangélico Bethesda to support children and youth in Tejutla, San Marcos, Guatemala. Through this partnership, we seek to strengthen a ministry that has faithfully served children and youth from low-income families for many years, many of whom have been affected by lack of employment, migration, and fragile family circumstances. We believe that by investing in the education and formation of these students, we are also sowing into their homes, their community, and the next generation.

Where are we?

We are located in the town of Tejutla, in the State of San Marcos, Guatemala. We are surrounded by indigenous communities where many of our students come from. In Tejutla, severe poverty is not present throughout the entire region; however, many families face economic hardship due to the lack of employment opportunities.

In addition, migration to the United States has strongly impacted this region, resulting in an increase in the number of orphaned children and widows who do not have stable housing or formal employment. There are also many children who suffer from chronic illnesses and malnutrition, which reflects the great need that exists among the families in this community.

Who are we?

We are Colegio Evangélico Bethesda, an institution founded in 1998 that provides education based on biblical principles, striving for academic excellence and quality for children and youth from low-income families, many of whom come from broken homes or situations of orphanhood. We currently serve children and young people from 4 to 20 years old, covering levels from preschool through high school.

Our school was founded in the late 1990s through a church, in response to the urgent need to provide education for the children of the region. As direct witnesses of the situation, they saw how some children from Christian families were being expelled from public schools because of their faith. Convinced that responding to this need was part of the responsibility and ministry of the church, they joined efforts to found a private school that could serve these children and also support their families.

We would like to invite you to become part of the successful development of these children. You can help by making a one-time annual payment of $600 USD to cover their school needs, or by giving $50 USD monthly for one year. This contribution will cover tuition, school supplies, food, uniform, and administrative expenses.

Our desire is to leave a lasting mark on these children so that they may be able to face the challenges of life.
