The Bridges Program of Children FED is teaming up with SHANITA to present a real opportunity for many students of rural Karamoja to embrace education as an avenue to a better future. As the start of the school year in Uganda is just around the corner, we want to help as many children as possible to go to school.
WHERE WE ARE
Karamoja is an arid, remote region in north-eastern Uganda populated by the Karimojong people. The region is classified as one of the world’s poorest areas, with high malnutrition rates and a disproportionate number of people living in absolute poverty. Most children in Karamoja don’t attend primary school, making literacy rates in the region the lowest in the country, keeping the entire region in a vicious cycle of poverty.
WHO ARE WE?
SHANITA is an Israeli nonprofit working in Karamoja, Uganda, to support vulnerable children who have been excluded from education due to extreme poverty, discrimination, and long-term instability.
SHANITA works side by side with communities to make education accessible in some of the most remote villages in the region. Their approach goes far beyond school fees.
The program provides a safe and stable environment, daily meals, learning materials, medical and emotional care, and consistent adult support—everything a child needs to heal, learn, and grow.
Over the years, the program has helped hundreds of children break cycles of poverty and build a different future.
For $50 a month, one child receives comprehensive, long-term support that turns access to education into real opportunity.
Donations are tax-deductible in the U.S. through the Bridges program (501(c)(3)).

The sponsorship program is established in an area where no other academic solutions (governmental or private) are provided. Beyond education, the program provides every student with their immediate needs, such as a safe and secure place to learn, clean drinking water, nutritious meals, and appropriate medical assistance when required.
We are looking for dedicated partners to join us and change the lives of children who need our help. The process is simple, accessible, and meticulous, providing comprehensive support for a specific student – updating you with their progress and growth throughout their studies.
